From Pacific Beach to a National Favorite
Founded in Southern California in 1979, Broken Yolk Café grew from a single neighborhood café into a trusted, community-driven franchise brand, without losing what made it special.

The original Broken Yolk Cafe opened in 1979, just a mile from the sand and surf in San Diego's Pacific Beach neighborhood.

John Gelastopoulos, a San Diego restaurant broker, purchased the original Broken Yolk Cafe in Pacific Beach. With a passion for hospitality, quality ingredients, and community connection, John and his family grew the restaurant's namesake from being a neighborhood staple to a citywide favorite.

After years of expressed public interest, Broken Yolk Cafe officially launched its franchise opportunity; opening location #2 in Chula Vista, California. I didn't take long from there for the brand to reach 15 total locations spanning San Diego County.
